Merge between Dangaard and Brightpoint

Paneuropean telecom distributor Dangaard, which was bought only six months ago by danish investor Nordic Capital, has decided to merge with its american competitor Brightpoint, which owns some subsidiaries in Europe. The new company will weight around $4.6 billion (about 60% for Brightpoint and 40% for Dangaard) and therefore be the biggest telecom distributor in the world.

The new company recently built between Tech Data and Brightstar will therefore face a huge competitor. Dangaard is present in whole Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia (only a small office), Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland as well as Dubai) while Brightpoint is present only in Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia (Finland, Norway and Sweden as well as in Dubai and, since last summer, Russia. Brightpoint left France last year, its french subsidiary being rebuilt through an MBO under the name Evodial.

Therefore, this merge will mostly have an impact in Dubai, Germany, Netherlands, in scandinavian countries (except Denmark) and a bit in Russia. Dangaard’s headquarters in Denmark will become the european head office of the new company.
