Ukraine : broadliner MTI has inked a distribution agreement with Mustek. This partnership is currently limited to the UPS of the Taiwanese vendor.

Poland : broadliner Veracomp has added Thrustmaster gaming accessories to its portfolio.

Miro opens in Nelspruit

South Africa : network and telecoms specialist Miro Distribution has opened its first branch in the Mpumalanga region. Based in Nelspruit, this new branch will be perfectly positioned to serve its clients in Mpumalanga as well as the growing customer base in Mozambique and Swaziland. In typical Miro fashion, the branch will provide an easy access to stock, as well as technical support, after sales services and training to its customers in the region. This branch is managed by Raymond Gouws.

France : telephony specialist Avenir Télécom has added Rebecca Bonbon design mobile phone accessories to its offer. This partnership is exclusive in the whole EMEA region, and is also carried by Avenir Telecom offices in Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Germany : SaaS specialist SaaS Distribution has added Zscaler to its board of vendors. Zscaler is specialized in SaaS Web security, URL Filtering, web filtering, data security, internet Security and email security. It is available in packages including different features at reasonable prices. Compared to classic offers, SaaS security offers are easier to manage and always up-to-date.

Trigon scans business cards with PenPower

Middle East : peripheral specialist Trigon has unveiled a distribution partnership with PenPower for its line of businesscard scanners. This partnership covers both UAE and Bahrain.

Data Select sale to Brightstar imminent ?

United Kingdom : telephony specialist Brightstar Europe should close a deal to buy its competitor Data Select. Given the businesses, it would not be a surprise if a swathe of redundancies follow the sale, as Data Select’s warehouse and offices in Slough have no benefit to Brightstar, the main value being in its manufacturer relationships. Data Select currently has around 120 employees across its Slough estate, down from 170 a few years ago. Such an acquisition would strongly boost Brightstar positions in the country (source : Mobile Today United Kingdom).

Attiva imports Tizi from Equinux

Italy : Mac specialist Attiva has started to push the TV hotspot Tizi from Equinux in the country. Tizi allows iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users to watch television wirelessly at home, through their WiFi network.

Germany : broadliner Intos has added server UPS vendor Effekta to its stable of vendors.

Arrow ECS extends agreement to sell Riverbed into Nordics

Scandinavia : network, security and infrastructure VAD Arrow ECS has unveileded a distribution agreement with Riverbed Technology in the region. The agreement enables Arrow ECS to distribute Riverbed solutions in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. It represents an expansion of the already established relationship between Arrow ECS and Riverbed, in Austria, Germany, the UK and the US. The Arrow ECS Nordic team covers Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland and the Baltics.

Al Futtaim signs with Nokia

United Arab Emirates : consumer electronics and telephony specialist Al Futtaim has been appointed official distributor by Nokia for its mobile phones.

FG Distribuzione pushes Sharp on retail

Italy : broadliner FG Distribuzione has been appointed official distributor by Japanese vendor Sharp for its audio and video consumer electronic products, which it will push on the market through its retail network.

Steljes to capitalise on visualiser market with Elmo

United Kingdom : AV VAD Steljes has started the distribution of Elmo’s range of visualisers and wireless slates in the country as well as in Ireland. Steljes has pioneered the growth of the visualiser market in the education sector with leading brands such as the AVerMedia, SMART Document Camera and Epson visualisers. Now with the addition of the Elmo range, Steljes is poised to dominate this market sector.

Spain : young security and software VAD Arkadia Solutions (which is the new identity of Varcity) has been appointed official distributor by Israeli vendor Access Layers for its Portnox NAC solution. Access Layers is the fourth vendor of Arkadia, beside Ericom, F-Secure and TriCerat.

Germany : network and security VAD Wick Hill has announced the appointment of Helge Scherf and Thorsten Rief as its new managing directors, beside Kenneth Ward.

Square One wins Kodak contract

Ireland : AV specialist Square One has further expanded its partnership with Kodak by being appointed as distributor of its networked, workgroup and departmental scanners (source : Tech Central Eire).

Germany : network and telephony specialist Herweck has signed a distribution partnership with audio- and video-conferencing vendor Konftel, which has recently been acquired by Avaya.

Athena launches WebSure, its own security audit

France : security and software specialist Athena Global Services has launched its own security audit tool, named WebSure. Based on Acunetix engine and data, WebSure aims to help developers creating less vulnerable websites. Three versions are available as SaaS tools to resellers : WebSure Audit for SMB, WebSure Indeep Audit for resellers and WebSure Webagencies (a new target for the distributor).
