ASBIS gets Microlab exclusive rights

Broadliner ASBIS has been granted the exclusive rights to distribute Microlab products in Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia by signing global distribution contract with Microlab Electronics, a specialist in acoustic systems and computer peripherals. Microlab Electronics is better known for its classic design 2.0, 2.1, 5.1 systems. This agreement also grants ASBIS non-exclusive rights to market Microlab products in Belarus and Bulgaria.

Dell signs with Alltron

Switzerland : broadliner Alltron has been appointed first official distributor in the country by Dell. Albeit the partnership is opened to the entire Dell product line, Alltron will mostly focus on business products (PCs, notebooks, servers, storage, monitors and projectors).

Tech Data hires from ABC Data and Dell

Poland : broadliner Tech Data has hired Sebastian Pawłowski as sales director and Adam Pawtel as marketing director broadline. Sebastian was previously working for Dell, lately as head of sales, while Adam has been associated with broadliner ABC Data, more recently as marketing director A-brands.

Merlion reads with Sony

Russia : broadliner Merlion has further expanded its ebook portfolio with Sony products.

Vinzeo distributes Archos

Spain : broadliner Vinzeo has inked a distribution partnership with French mobile device vendor Archos.

Altimate reorganizes its operations

France : following the signature of several new vendors in the past months, storage and security VAD Altimate has reorganized its commercial operations through the creation of 3 dedicated commercial directions, in charge of developing sales and vendor partnerships (including, most recently, Clavister, Radware and Swivel), as well as to offer a stronger expertise to the resellers. The Oracle Complete commercial direction, managed by Sophie Daval (Brand Manager Oracle Complete) is 12-people strong. The Infrastructure commercial direction, managed by Yann Plétan, is 14-people strong and works on Adobe, Brocade, C-Tera, HP, Isilon, Q-Logic, Quantum, Red Hat and Symantec offers. The Security and Network commercial direction, managed by Laurent Bérard (who has decided to drop the development of TrustPort in France), will focus on F-Secure, NetIQ, Riverbed and Symantec Security. The distributor has also set-up transversal 3 business units : the Expert Technical Consultant team (headed by Jean-Pierre Raveleau, the technical and marketing director of the distributor) helps resellers on demos, models, tests and knowledge transfer ; the service, system integration, maintenance and support contract renewal team is headed by logistic director Benoît Fletcher ; finally, the major account team, managed by Jean-Claude Ricard, is in charge of the business development through the main clients of Altimate.

Ingram Micro in conferencing with Polycom

Conferencing vendor Polycom has appointed broadliner Ingram Micro as a new official distributor in the Benelux. Ingram will push Polycom software and hardware video- and audioconferencing solutions to about 9000 resellers in the region, through its offices in Belgium and the Netherlands.

A new MD for Shebang

United Kingdom : following the promotion of Iain Humphrey to its CEO, telephony specialist Shebang Distribution has hired former Everything Everywhere sales director Duncan Hay as its new managing director. Hay will assume responsibility for the day to day running of the business while Humphrey will focus on new business opportunities and Shebang’s MVNO operations.

Komsa distributes code-no.com anti-theft labels

Germany : telephony specialist Komsa has been chosen by local vendor code-no.com as its distributor. Code-no.com identifies brand products with the help of an online based product coding system, protects against theft and reunites people with lost property. By activating a code number in the internet portal Code-no.com, the owner of a product is able to register their possession of the item worldwide in order to protect their property from loss or theft. Lost items that have been registered on www.code-no.com are returned easily and discretely by the company to their original location when found. The anonymity of the owner is preserved at all times. The system makes it possible for anyone to carry out a status check of a code number, making the illegal sale of stolen items more difficult and providing, therefore, the registered owner with preventative protection from theft.

Invision to distribute VIBE Audio PICS

United Kingdom : AV specialist Invision UK has been appointed as exclusive distributor for VIBE Audio’s PICS (Picture Integrated Cinema Speakers) range of wall-mounted loudspeakers. British audio brand VIBE developed the PICS range for the custom market, as high quality designer speaker solutions for in-wall or on-wall mounting. Mounted behind a fully customisable picture frame, the PICS design ensures that speakers and cabling are fully concealed, whilst not compromising on audio quality.

ASBIS starts distributing Team Group memory modules and SSD

Broadliner ASBIS has signed a partnership with flash and memory vendor Team Group. The distribution agreement covers all countries in the EMEA region where ASBIS operates (that is Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates). The products’ range includes memory module, memory card, UFD, SSD, portable hard drives, peripherals and industrial products.

Gandalf gets a new director

Sweden : David Nicander, who was the managing director of broadliner Gandalf Data and its main shareholder, has stepped down to get back to its prefered job, purchase and product management. The new director of the distributor is Tony Wanderoy, who was previously deputy sales manager.

AT Computers manages accounts with Cigler Software

Accountancy software editor Cigler has appointed broadliner AT Computers as an official distributor in both Czech Republic and Slovakia for its line of S3 Money business products.

Synology gets Online

Russia : photo specialist Online Trade has been appointed official subdistributor for Synology NAS.

Sahara gets exclusive on InFocus MondoPad

Netherlands : Infocus has appointed AV specialist Sahara as its exclusive distributor for its MondoPad hires, cloud-based videoconferencing system in the whole Benelux.

A new VAD for Microsoft

Italy : already working together since some years, Microsoft has promoted software VAD J.Soft Distribuzione to official VAD for its virtualization, unified communication and security offer. The Computer Gross subsidiary will also provide value-added services on these products to its VARs and system integrators throughout the country.

More Sophos for Hermitage

France : security VAD Hermitage has extended its partnership with Sophos, previously limited to Astaro products, to its full portfolio.

McAfee appoint Softek for distribution

United Kingdom : security VAD Softek has finalised a partnership with McAfee. This partnership will allow Softek to provide cloud-based email, web security and email archiving services to customers via its network of Channel Reseller Partners. Softek is adding the McAfee Email Protection Service and McAfee Web Protection Service. These new cloud-based offerings provide customers with an effective first line of defence at the network perimeter to prevent vulnerabilities and threats such as spam, worms, malware and spyware from entering a managed network. In addition, Softek will be offering:

  • McAfee SaaS Email Protection which protects businesses and users against email-borne threats such as spam, viruses, malware and content security issues before they reach the corporate network, as well as controlling potentially damaging outbound email content.
  • McAfee SaaS Email Protection and Continuity which enables businesses to stay connected and productive during email server outages with continuous email storage, access, and use.

New positions strengthen team at Imago

United Kingdom : IP video VAD Imago Group has promoted and appointed a number of employees in its Thatcham, Berkshire head office. After a career in both marketing and sales with Imago, Nick Waldeck has been promoted to Southern Sales Manager, where he will be responsible for the direction and strategy of a growing team. Chris Wilson joins the Southern Sales team where his initial focus will be on Imago’s portfolio of streaming media manufacturers. Edward House has been promoted from administration to the sales team and his position is being filled by new recruit Lucy Cozens.
