Olivetti leverages on EET-Europarts for its POS

Italian vendor Olivetti has appointed broadliner and sparepart specialist EET-Europarts as an official distributor for its Explor@ POS terminals. This partnership covers whole Europe, except Italy, that is Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland,Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Two distributors for Kemp Technologies

France: load balancing vendor Kemp Technologies has chosen telecom VAD Sintel and young network VAD Intexan as its official distributors in the country, to help it start its coverage of the local market.

Dave Stevinson leaves VIP

United Kingdom: Dave Stevinson, who was commercial director for broadliner VIP Computer Centre, has left the company. The name of his replacement has not been yet unveiled.

Inspan enters retail channel

India: broadliner Inspan Infotech has entered the IT retail market by launching a new company called Ziptech. Ziptech will open multi- and single-brand stores, starting with a first Lenovo-dedicated store in Chennai, opened in early September. More stores are planned in the next months, mainly in the southern part of the country. The distributor has decided to use a separate entity to manage retail to ensure that its channel partners will not be confused by a dual identity. Also, Ziptech will sell only products which are not distributed by Inspan through its retail partners. The retail strategy is also linked to the rupee-dollar fluctuations : as most of Inspan’s bills are in dollars, an unstable rupee has made the business more risky. The company has thus stalled some of its expansion plans in distribution to focus on retail.

StorIT signs with Emulex

Middle East: storage VAD StorIT has unveiled on Gitex a distribution partnership with storage controller vendor Emulex across the region, with special focus on Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Tech Data stores on Sandisk

Flash vendor Sandisk has appointed broadliner Tech Data as an official distributor in both Czech Republic and Slovakia.

RSA appoints SecureData Africa

RSA, the security division of EMC, has appointed security VAD SecureData Africa as its distributor for the sub-Saharan African region. Both companies were working together previously on the South African territory.

Two new brands for DotForce

Spain: security VAD DotForce has added to vendors to its portfolio : Accellion, which is specialized in secure data transfer, and InGate, which has developed a SIP-capable firewall.

Epson appoints Feeder for its Sign business

France: Epson has granted multispecialist Feeder official distribution rights over its sign printer models (SureColor SC-S30600, SC-S50600 and SC-S70600). Feeder becomes the second distributor for these products in the country, beside graphic art specialist Graph’Image.

Micro-P pushes Dell PCs in 24h

United Kingdom: following reseller demand, broadliner Micro Peripherals has unveiled a next-day delivery service for Dell laptops and desktops. The distributor already offers such a delivery service for Dell’s servers, and has thus extended its to Dell’s Latitude, Vostro and Optiplex laptops and desktops.

Magirus to lose its name

It’s decided: Graeme Watt has officially unveiled plans to drop the name Magirus by mid-January, following the acquisition of the German distributor last summer. It remains to see how the distributor plans to effectively manage the acquisition, country by country, with the least braindrain as possible.

Avnet Abacus seals pan-European franchise deal with Fischer Elektronik

Semiconductor specialist Avnet Abacus has signed a pan-European distribution agreement with Fischer Elektronik. Under the terms of the agreement, Avnet Abacus will represent Fischer Elektronik, a specialist in the design and manufacture of thermal management solutions, enclosures and connectors, as an authorised distributor and will supply customers throughout Europe with a broad array of components from the Fischer product portfolio, through its offices in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Connect Distribution signs with Dell

Poland: as a first realization of the promises of Emmanuel Mouquet, earlier this year, Dell has signed a distribution partnership with thin computing and network VAD Connect Distribution, for its servers and storage products. Connect Distribution was previously a Wyse distributor, and will now be able, thanks to this new deal, able to provide end-to-end thin computing architectures around Dell products. No doubt similar partnerships will emerge in the coming weeks and months, in other EMEA countries.

Dell partners with HCL Infosystems for enterprise products

India: Dell and Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services (DDMS), the distribution arm of HCL Infosystems, has signed a strategic partnership for the distribution of Dell’s Enterprise class products to partners in emerging markets. This is a first-of-its-kind engagement for DDMS and Dell in the market. DDMS will deal in a wide array of Dells Enterprise product categories including servers, storage and networking products in India. The partnership with DDMS will enhance Dell’s Enterprise solutions reach beyond tier-1 cities and propel its focus to target mid-market customers with open, easy to deploy and affordable solutions. Under this deal, DDMS and Dell will collaborate on marketing, sales and technical areas and overall go-to market activities. DDMS will take care of the marketing related activities for Dell Enterprise products and services, and further help promote, participate and extend the sale of the Dell products through activities such as market research, advertising, trade shows, internet marketing, etc.

Russia: broadliner Merlion has been chosen by Infortrend as the local exclusive distributor for its EonNAS NAS systems.

Westcon Solutions launches new operations in Asia

China: security and network VAD Westcon Solutions, a part of Westcon Group, has expanded its global reach with new operations in China. The company’s operations in China will be led by Sales Director Alan Zhu, who will report directly to Wilson Ho, managing director Westcon Solutions.

Italy: UPS vendor Tecnoware has completed its coverage of the country through a distribution deal with regional broadliner All Trade, which will cover more precisely the Sicilian market.

France: Philips has appointed retail specialist Banque Magnétique as an official distributor for its digital voice recorders.
