A new office for Westcon Convergence

Czech Republic: Datatec has opened a new Westcon Convergence office in Prague. Managed by Comstor’s local boss, Westcon Convergence Czech will focus on Avaya ecosystem, including Microsoft Lync, Extreme Networks, Acme Packet or Jabra products and will also cover the Slovak market. It will join the two local Avaya distributors, multispecialist Avnet in Czech Republic and broadliner Sofos in Slovakia.

D-Link chooses Memodis

France: D-Link has chosen storage VAD Memodis as an additional distributor for its SMB and corporate account networked storage systems.

Joe Fagan leaves CMS

United Kingdom: Joe Fagan, who was marketing director for storage VAD CMS Distribution, has left the distributor to join Seagate as senior director, cloud initiatives EMEA.

Spain: broadliner MCR has expanded its catalog with Sage SMB business management solutions.

Ecomedia in the office supplies

Switzerland: supply specialist Ecomedia has hired Charles Specker as the manager of its PBS (« Papier, Bürobedarf, Schreibwaren » aka Paper, Office Supplies and Stationery). It has also started the distribution of a selection of Magnetoplan presentation and office media products, including hiteboards, flip charts, projection screens and related accessories. Magnetoplan should be joined by other vendors in the coming weeks and months.

3KV manages energy with JouleX

Germany: network specialist 3KV has expanded its portfolio with JouleX enterprise energy management tools. The JouleX Energy Manager (JEM) automatically monitors, analyzes and controls the energy consumed by all devices connected to the network – without agents, hardware meters or changes to the network or security.

Entatech adds Intel’s NUC to its portfolio

United Kingdom: broadliner Enta Technologies is the first distributor to official distributor the Intel NUC. The NUC (Next Unit of Computing) family delivers stunning visuals and edge-of-your-seat performance in an ultra-small package. Powered by an Intel Core i3 processor on a 10-by-10-cm motherboard and enclosed in a tiny case, the NUC is big on performance yet surprisingly small in size. It’s more specifically useful for digital signage, kiosks, home theater systems and intelligent devices for small spaces.

Spain: network specialist X-Net has added Ewent and Eminent cabling, accessories and small peripherals to its catalog.

Alltron distributes Philips

Switzerland: broadliner Alltron has expanded its portfolio with several lines of Philips products, through partnerships with their licensees MMD (for monitors), TP Vision (LCD televisions) and Sagemcom (faxes and videoprojectors). The goal of Alltron is, ultimately, to be able to distribute a much broader portfolio of Philips products, encompassing consumer electronics, telephony, IT or home appliances.

A new name for Røsler Distribution

Denmark: sparepart and storage specialist Røsler Distribution has decided to change its name to rather-cryptic Werd. This is to reflect the fact that the founder Torben Røsler has sold some of its shares to the CEO Jakob Nielsen, which now owns 50% of the company.

Poland: thin computing and networking VAD Connect Distribution has expanded its partnership with Dell to its SonicWALL security solutions.

DAM displays with Philips

France: MMD, the Philips licencee for display products, has chosen AV accessory specialist DAM as a new exclusive distributor. This brings DAM in a new, complementary market with bigger value than its traditional products, among which Vogel’s monitor mounts.

Happyware hires a new commercial director

Germany: server component and industrial computing specialist Happyware has hired Ralf Schall as its new commercial director. Ralf was previously working for PC vendor Transtec.

Computerlinks adds new technology partner Arista to help resellers upgrade data centre and cloud network infrastructure

United Kingdom: network and security VAD Computerlinks has signed an agreement in Ireland and the United Kingdom with Arista Networks, a provider of software defined cloud networking solutions for data centres. Arista thus replaces its former distributor Exclusive Networks with its competitor Computerlinks. The agreement will enable Computerlinks’ resellers to deliver best-of-breed Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Ethernet switching solutions that offer high performance and low total cost of ownership. The decision to partner with Arista Networks is the latest stage in the development of Computerlinks’ next generation data centre channel proposition. The agreement will allow resellers to address their customers’ needs to drive down the operational and ownership costs of their data centres and cloud computing environments as Arista’s Ethernet switching platforms represent the smallest footprint and lowest power consumption of all the major switching vendors. Resellers will now be able to offer their clients SDN and switching solutions designed to meet the stringent power and cooling requirements of today’s most demanding data centres.

Russia: broadliner Marvel Distributsia has unveiled distributor partnerships with two new vendors : WAN optimization specialist Riverbed and service provider network vendor Raisecom. These two signatures allow the distributor to strongly expand its value-added portfolio.

Germany: broadliner Ingram Micro has opened a new BU dedicated to physical security. Manned by a team of 7 people managed by Klaus Donath, the director of the Network and Software Group. It will focus initially on video security, and will later expand to the markets of alarm systems, access control or fire alarms. The physical security BU currently distributes brands like Axis or Bosch.
