Senior management appointments for DCC Sercom

Ireland: Irish distribution group DCC SerCom (which owns British companies Advent Data, Micro-P (and its Security, Mobile and Attach divisions) and Gem Distribution and MSE Group, Irish MSE Accessories, Micro-P Security, Sercom Solutions and Sharptext, French Banque Magnétique and Comtrade and Dutch and Belgian Go Connect and Swedish Ztorm) parent distribution company DCC SerCom has unveiled three senior management appointments. Gerry O'Keeffe – MD of Micro-P Group – becomes Managing Director UK and Ireland of the group. He will take responsibility for all of DCC's operations in these two countries. Former Gem Distribution MD Chris Peacock has been appointed Deputy Managing Director UK and Ireland, and Head of Home Entertainment. He will ensure the business is positioned at the forefront of the market for packaged and digital products. Thirdly, Cormac Watters, previously the Head of Group IT for DCC plc (DCC SerCom’s parent company), will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer, Head of Supply Chain Services at DCC SerCom and MD of Supply Chain Solutions business unit SerCom Solutions, replacing Kevin Henry who retires after servicing the company over the last 17 years. Beside this, all DCC Sercom companies will be unified under a new name, Exertis, to pinpoint their belonging to the group.

Trend Micro appoints Systematika

Italy: Japanese security editor Trend Micro has chosen software specialist Systematika as an official distributor. Systematika will more particularly push Trend cloud offer in the center and northern regions of the country.

Logicom imports Datalogic

Romania: broadliner Logicom has expanded its catalog with Datalogic auto ID products.

DDMS ties up with Datacard

India: broadliner Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services (DDMS) has signed a partnership with secure ID and card personalization vendor Datacard. DDMS will be the national distributor for Datacard Group's products and services. It will further extend their services to various market segments and projects including Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY – health insurance for poor citizens), financial inclusion, banking, driving licenses, voting cards and student ID cards.

Netherlands: mobility and accessory specialist Twindis has added Panda Security retail products to its portfolio.

Scansource launches its ScanSource Designer

Pan-European network and telecom VAD ScanSource Communications has launched a new tool to help its resellers optimize their configuration services. The "Scan Source Designer" tool is based on the Avaya IP Office Designer, which was also developed by ScanSource Communications, and includes Avaya Server Edition and the new Avaya Price Model (APM). "Scansource Designer" can also export files in the Avaya EC format, to circumvant any compatibility issues. "ScanSource Designer" is designed to allow resellers to get a faster access to pricing and save time on quoting. Currently, "ScanSource Designer" is available in German and English, while a French version should follow. Originally developed for Avaya solutions, it may be extended to other vendors later.

Pedab in the cloud with iPeer

Sweden: server and peripheral VAD Pedab has, in partnership with IBM, started the distribution of iPeer cloud-based hosting solutions.

Ecom expands its monitor portfolio

Germany: PC component and peripheral specialist Ecom has added Benq and Iiyama to its monitor vendors.

A new sales director for Spicers

United Kingdom: Richard Ford, former Lyreco MD and Newell Rubbermaid EMEA Customer Development Director, has joined office product specialist Spicers to take up the role of sales director for the dealer channel. He joins as a member of the Spicers strategic leadership team.

India: PC component specialist Rashi Peripherals has been chosen as a distributor for Intel products. This distributorship will cover the complete range of products from Intel, including desktop processors, mobile processors, server processors, desktop, server and workstation motherboards, networking and chassis, NUC and SSD.

More Infocus for TD Maverick

United Kingdom: AV specialist TD Maverick has expanded its partnership with InFocus to include its all-in-one displays and Windows 8 products. That is on top of its existing Mondopad conferencing display and the company's full range of projectors, which the distributor already had in its portfolio.

Comm-Tec in the cloud

Germany: AV specialist Comm-Tec has expanded its partnership with Vidyo to its online video-conferencing cloud service.

EBV Elektronik signs distribution agreement with Broadcom

Semiconductor specialist EBV Elektronik has inked a distribution agreement for the EMEA region excluding Israel with Broadcom Corporation, a provider of semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications. Broadcom's broad portfolio of system-on-a-chip (SoC) and embedded software solutions will thus be available throughout the EBV Elektronik offices in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Midwich and EIZO reunited after 13 years

United Kingdom: some relationships are just meant to be and, 13 years after sister companies Midwich Thame and EIZO UK, formerly PDS (Professional Display systems), were sold by Raab Karcher (part of the Veba group) to Avnet, they have reunited to work together once again. Back in 2000, the electronics side of Raab Karcher was sold for around €1.5billion to Avnet, Shroders and Arrow. Of the 20 companies involved, only Midwich and PDS, which became EIZO UK, are still trading. 20 months ago specialist-monitor vendor EIZO called time on a 20-year relationship with Avnet to once again set up its own operation in the hunt for new partners to expand its channel proposition. A 15-strong team moved from Avnet to the new firm under TUPE regulations at the start of 2012. At the same time its own distribution warehousing operation moved out of its current home at a former Bell Micro base in the Midlands to a managed facility. And now, EIZO is back at working again with AV broadliner Midwich, as part of Midwich's new Small Format Display strategy.

Sophos replaces Computerlinks with ALSO

Switzerland: security specialist Sophos has decided not to extend its partnership with VAD Computerlinks, and has replaced it with broadliner ALSO. ALSO thus becomes the second distributor for Sophos in the country, beside VAD Infinigate.
