TD Azlan opens new business solutions centre at Heathrow

United Kingdom: TD Azlan, Tech Data's specialist enterprise infrastructure, data centre, software, services and cloud VAD BU, has opened its new Business Solutions Centre (BSC) at the company's Heathrow location. The centre is available for resellers to use, both to learn about and to demonstrate advanced enterprise solutions to customers. This new facility extends significantly on the resources that were previously available and also forms the cornerstone of TD Azlan's BSC Network, which links the Heathrow centre with similar resources in France, the Netherlands and Sweden, providing access to an extensive and unrivalled range of technologies. As well as the latest hardware and software from leading enterprise vendors, the TD Azlan BSC provides access to mobile and client solutions offered by Tech Data Mobile, and audiovisual solutions from TD Maverick, as integrated elements. The BSC is being equipped with all the latest technologies from TD Azlan's leading vendor partners. It can be set up to deliver many technology combinations. Demonstrations will be delivered by skilled TD Azlan specialists and technical consultants. It can be branded with partners' logos and also those of their end user, if required. Mills says it should be seen as an extension to the partner’s business, enabling them to demonstrate the latest technologies and solutions without the expense and capital outlay of managing their own facility. TD Azlan has made a significant investment in the new BSC. There are eight APC Infrastruxure racks within the data centre itself. A separate and external storage resource provides significant capacity to create and store popular technology combinations, so that any of its consultants can quickly reconstruct them when required. In addition, the resources available in the other three centres in the TD Azlan BSC Network will be available via a private WAN. A 100Gbps connection is being installed at Heathrow to ensure there is adequate bandwidth to support live demonstrations. As well as the demonstration room facilities, there are also dedicated training rooms within the BSC, which can be used for small or large-group sessions. TD Azlan's consultants are made available to provide classroom-based and hands-on training.

Beware with fake Parametric Technology

Scammers are putting more and more investment and time in posing as genuine companies. But continue to fail miserably to any trained eye like ITdistri's. Latest to date is a fake Parametric Technology, based in France. The crooks use the company data of the French subsidiary of CAD and PLM software editor PTC. And they have developed a full website, to fool people who would want to check who is behind their fake URL. Of course, if the address is real, the phone numbers and the URL are not those of PTC/Parametric Technology France (all details here). So, once again, beware: it's not because a company who contact you has a full-fledged website that it is a genuine buyer. A cross checking on ITdistri or a specialized website like The Broker Site, with questions in case of doubt, is never a wrong idea and can save you thousands of euros!

United Kingdom: broadliner Exertis has appointed Sarah Flannigan as its Consumer Business Manager. In her role, she will be responsible for building and further developing relationships with new and existing consumer electronics manufacturers, developing their brand awareness while increasing the growth of Exertis' consumer electronic business. She brings eight years of distribution knowledge and experience to Exertis. Sarah joins Exertis from rival Tech Data where she was formerly the PC Category Manager, covering both consumer and commercial products. While there, she managed some of the largest PC manufacturers, cultivating strong relationships with them. During her tenure in distribution, Sarah has developed an in-depth knowledge of consumer markets and how to manage the expectations and demands of large retailers. Her exposure to both the consumer market and the commercial market has given her a comprehensive understanding of their key differences. Managing a team within Tech Data gave Sarah an insight into the most effective way to nurture relationships between a distributor and with the vendors or customers they represent, in order to achieve the best results. At Exertis, Sarah will work to both grow and help consumer electronics brands in the retail space and potentially other channels, in order to build awareness of their brand and optimise their presence in retail. She will also focus on building strong relationships with key stakeholders within the business, manufacturers and customers, to gain their trust and demonstrate why Exertis should always be their preferred distributor.
