Tech Data launches gaming platform for German retailers

Germany: broadliner Tech Data has started to offer local resellers and stationary traders an exclusive access and insight into its gaming offer through a new, dedicated gaming portal. In this portal, resellers will find products that are especially designed or developed for the gaming market. Through a mouse-over function, visitors get technical details about all products and can develop ideal gaming configurations for different user groups (beginners, semi-professionals and professionals). Depending on the needs of the customer and his gameplay (ego shooter, fantasy or strategy games), the resellers can select the best components and add them to their shopping cart.

Tech Data stores on QNAP

Germany: broadliner Tech Data has expanded its storage catalog with QNAP NAS systems.

DACH: security and storage VAD ADN has been chosen by Quantum as an official distributor for the whole region, thanks to ADN offices in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In the last country, broadliner ALSO has expanded its network offer with Netgear consumer and corporate products1. Marcus Adä has decided to leave Avnet, following the acquisition of the infrastructure VAD by Tech Data. German software specialist Ebertlang has added Evault backup solutions from Carbonite to its catalog. The partnership covers the whole DACH region. Network and security VAD Infinigate has unveiled several new distribution deals in the region, with CensortNet2 (for Austria, Germany and Switzerland), Imperva3 (again for Austria, Germany and Switzerland) and Macmon (in both Austria and Switzerland only). Finally, in Germany, telephony specialist Komsa has expanded its portfolio with the Knox B2B mobile security solution from Samsung (source: Inside Channels Schweiz, IT Reseller Schweiz 1, 2 and 3, Channel Observer Deutschland, IT Markt Schweiz, CRN Deutschland and Telecom Handel Deutschland).

Tech Data completes acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business

American broadliner Tech Data has completed its acquisition of the Technology Solutions business from its competitor Avnet. The combination creates a premier global end-to-end IT distributor with unmatched capabilities and the most diverse solutions from the data center to the living room. The addition of Technology Solutions significantly broadens Tech Data's value-added distribution business (aka Azlan), increasing the company's ability to help its partners capitalize on next-generation technologies while enhancing its go-to-market capabilities with complementary skills, expanded vendor relationships, and new customer sets. The combined company has a larger and more balanced geographic footprint, including a presence in the Asia-Pacific region, a new market for Tech Data. Financial Terms

The total purchase price at close was approximately €2.35 billion (subject to certain post-close adjustments), including €2.17 billion in cash, and 2,785,402 shares of Tech Data stock, representing approximately 7.3% of Tech Data's shares outstanding (after issuance of the new shares). Tech Data financed the cash portion of the purchase price through a combination of €900 million from its recent public debt offering and €900 million of bank term loans, and the remainder from drawings under other credit facilities and cash on hand. The transaction is expected to be significantly accretive to Tech Data's non-GAAP earnings per share in the first full year. The company expects to achieve annual cost savings of approximately €90 million within 24 months, with one-time costs to achieve these cost savings expected to be approximately €135 million.

Some online Managed Print Services for Tech Data

Germany: broadliner Tech Data has started an exclusive collaboration with Printer Care Services, whose service allows resellers to create an MPS offer within 3 minutes and send it directly to the end customer. With the signature of this cooperation agreement with, the distributor now offers extensive managed print services for their end customers with minimal effort for the partner. The contract is concluded directly between the end user and Sales partners receive a guaranteed sales commission of 4% on printers, consumables and services delivered through the MPS contract, over its entire term (from 12 to 60 months). Providing they are registered and have followed the adequate training from the vendors, the resellers can also take over the technical services needed by its customers. If they cannot take them over, and no other dealer is available nearby, uses the service organizations of the vendors (10 listed, for more than 400 printer and MFP models), guaranteeing a constant level of service all across the country, for all vendors.
