Two new brands for Beta Distribution and PSCo

United Kingdom: supply and storage specialist Beta Distribution has been appointed as distributor for AccelStor (software-defined all-flash arrays)1 and ADATA (DRAM modules, NAND Flash products, and mobile accessories)1. PSCo, the specialist distribution and trade rental division of the Midwich Group, and Epson have agreed an exclusive UK territory agreement for the distribution of its laser installation projectors3. As a result of the partnership, PSCo will be making a substantial capital investment in Epson's laser projection range, allowing the company to provide a free evaluation programme, as well as offering professional rental packages to its trade customers (source: Channel Info United Kingdom 1, 2 and 3).

ADATA and Beta Distribution begin partnership

United Kingdom: ADATA Technology, a manufacturer of DRAM modules, NAND Flash products, and mobile accessories, has started a UK partnership with print and storage specialist Beta Distribution, which will allow growth in the storage segment by adding a dedicated distributor with deep insight into new routes to market. The new partnership is of great importance to further enhance ADATA coverage in the UK market, and creates numerous business opportunities for both parties.

Dave Taylor, ADATA UK Country Manager for Sales and Marketing, commented on the agreement: "we are delighted to be partnering with Beta Distribution. Given the significant growth we have experienced in the past year, Beta offer a strategic alliance to key routes to market given their extensive portfolio and multiple channel sales experience. We envision ADATA complementing some of the great brands Beta already represent, and with an ever-growing product range, I feel it is important to align with a partner that not only reacts to market demands but is prepared to explore emerging technologies and wraparound solutions."

JonPaul Warren, Business Development Manager at Beta, commented on the new agreement: "we are pleased to announce this partnership with ADATA. ADATA are a leading memory brand as demonstrated by their award-winning product design and commitment to providing high quality memory solutions." Mr. Warren added: "their extensive product range will provide us with a tremendous opportunity to engage across our entire customer base, notably with highly relevant product ranges such as XPG gaming memory and SSD, which fit into our target verticals of system integrators and e-tailers. In addition, Flash and storage products are ideal for our existing retail customer base."

Co-operation between ADATA and Beta Distribution has begun with immediate effect and both parties expect it to have a tangible impact on market access, product availability, and service quality for UK customers.

Entatech goes bankrupt

United Kingdom: broadliner Entatech has gone bankrupt because of worsening credit woes and legacy VAT issues. Jason Tsai, the former owner of ENTA Technologies, was banned from being a company director earlier this year for his part in a VAT carousel. The company has for some time sought a buyer, competitor Beta Distribution having shown some interest but finally dropped off the idea. Competitors such as VIP have offered to help customers of Entatech who are unable to access credit and return faulty stock in the wake of the demise of the distributor's demise: "we are putting credit facilities in place for any customer that was dual sourcing from VIP and Enta that needs additional support. Without this, they may not be able to transact", VIP managing director Rich Marsden said. "We are also covering the RMAs [a return merchandise authorisation] for the brands VIP also supplies. My concern for the customers would be where do they return the items, because some of Entatech's vendors don't have secondary distributors. If Ingram, Exertis and Tech Data do the same, the customers will be covered, which is the important thing", he adds.

KPMG has been named Entatech's administrator, and laid out 2/3 of its remaining workforce, keeping 29 employees onboard. A new firm has been created by Dave Stevinson, Entatech's last MD, to take over last Entatech's valuable assets (namely the stock and some fixtures and fittings, as well as goodwill that gives it access to customer contracts). Named GNR Distribution, it has been funded by a blend of personal funding and new funding secured from Aldermore Bank. Stevinson claimed GNR was in it for the long haul, although admitted some of Entatech's vendors might struggle to work with a new and smaller company (source: Channelweb United Kingdom).

Samsung appoints Beta Distribution

United Kingdom: AV and storage specialist Beta Distribution has announced that its DMS division has been appointed official distributor for Samsung digital signage products.

Beta, Commtech, Exertis, Ingram Micro and JGBM find new partners

British Isles: backup editor Nakivo has signed a distribution agreement with British print, storage video specialist Beta Distribution. Under the agreement, Beta Distribution will distribute Nakivo solutions in the UK and Ireland. Beta has also made two key appointments to further strengthen its sales, service and solutions proposition in the Enterprise Technology space: Miguel Castro (formerly working for Infortrend) as newly created, Head of Solutions Architecture, and Chris Moore (from CMS Distribution) as Head of Sales for the newly opened Northern Sales office in Leeds.

Network and storage VAD Commtech has struck a strategic channel alliance with e-mail messaging and Web security editor AppRiver1. As a premier distribution partner, Commtech will help to accelerate the rapid growth that AppRiver has achieved and enable extension of their regional market share throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Broadliner Exertis has unveiled two additions to its portfolio in the region. In the United Kingdom, the Exertis UK as signed an agreement with British audio specialist Bowers & Wilkins to distribute its range of technology products, which includes headphones and wireless speakers. As well as providing the full range of consumer electronics products, Bowers & Wilkins will work with Exertis to offer a full support programme to new customers which will be in keeping with the brand's premium status. In Ireland, the Exertis Ireland has confirmed a distribution partnership with Promethean, an interactive whiteboard vendor2. The new partnership follows Promethean's recent changes to its UK channel model, to reflect the needs of channel partners and the evolving landscape of the education technology market. Promethean, in partnership with Exertis, now provides an enhanced suite of wrap around sales and marketing support, which enables partners to benefit from greater access to manufacturer expertise as well as a bolstered programme of local demand creation campaigns. The partnership with Exertis will follow the same new channel model as the UK, giving Promethean greater coverage in Ireland as well as a stronger grip on the Irish education sector.

In the United Kingdom, broadliner Ingram Micro has added Tripp Lite UPS solutions to its portfolio.

Finally, in the United Kingdom again, specialist office machine distributor JGBM has been appointed an Official Epson Partner, which means it can introduce a range of Epson printers and scanners to its product portfolio. John George, JGBM's MD, commented: "we're delighted to be adding Epson to our portfolio of products. Whilst we have listed Epson for some time, it's to date been only as a special, so we're looking forward to driving the brand into the market and delivering our USP of delivering product expertise to the dealer to assist them to sell to their customers."
