Westcoast scores hat-trick with gaming giants MSI, Gigabyte, and SteelSeries

United Kingdom: broadliner Westcoast has signed distribution deals with three of the world's leading players in the gaming market; MSI, Gigabyte and SteelSeries. Gaming laptop manufacturers MSI and Gigabyte and peripherals expert SteelSeries have selected Westcoast as their preferred distribution partner for the UK market, further strengthening the company’s standing in the gaming sector. Attracted by Westcoast's proven track record, reputation and retail contacts in the computing and gaming sectors, the three brands are each looking to expand their retail footprint with all major players in the channel. All three brands will benefit from Westcoast's established and efficient supply chain model that already has the trust of several leading global technology brands including Apple, HP Inc., HTC, Lenovo, Microsoft and Samsung.

Westcoast signs distribution deal with LG

Broadliner Westcoast and LG Electronics Mobile have agreed a non-exclusive distribution agreement to sell LG mobile devices within Ireland and the United Kingdom. The deal adds to Westcoast's expanding portfolio of leading mobile vendors and will focus on sales of the LG Mobile Android powered handset and smartwatch range. LG is a brand well known to consumers and business customers for both quality and outstanding technology. With Westcoast’s expertise in mobile solutions it aims to offer LG the breadth it deserves across all of its markets.

Microsoft picks four distributors following software review

United Kingdom: Microsoft has appointed four distributors to handle local software distribution after completing a review process. According to multiple sources, four of the previous five distributors - Exertis, Ingram Micro, Tech Data and Westcoast - have been successful, with Entatech, which went out of business last month, dropping out. Microsoft asked the five incumbent distributors to rebid for the business in March, with potential new suitors VIP and Centerprises' distributor brand Ci Distribution understood to have been invited to bid.

Exertis and Westcoast both confirmed that they have been successful in three of the four segments available, while Tech Data and Ingram Micro could not be reached for comment. A large chunk of the software that Microsoft puts through distribution was up for grabs, broken into four categories: full packaged products (FPP); OEM Windows; OEM Server; and electronic software delivery (ESD) products. Mark Reynolds, commercial director at Exertis, said the distributor had been awarded all three of the segments it had bid for - retaining FFP and OEM Server while adding OEM Windows to its portfolio. "Microsoft are one of our biggest partners and we're always going to go for everything we can get in these tenders", he said. "We're delighted to have retained [what we already had], and also add on an extra exhibit as well, which is the Windows OEM piece. We're thrilled to continue in the same vein, and gain some extra business as well."

Westcoast managing director Alex Tatham said Westcoast has successfully retained its place across FPP, OEM Server, and ESD, having bid for all four segments. ALSO continues international expansion of cloud marketplace platform

Swiss broadliner ALSO and Intcomex have signed a strategic partnership to bring a wide range of local and global vertical-focused cloud services to SMB and Enterprise customers in Latin America in 2017. Both companies are joining forces to make the ALSO Cloud Marketplace Platform as a Service (PaaS) available to more than 50,000 Intcomexs' channel partners in 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with plans to expand further in the region. ALSO enables Intcomex to expand their Software as a Service (SaaS) catalogue to their customers. Spearheaded by Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program (CSP), the platform assists local vertical-focused ISVs to expand towards channels.

In October 2016, ALSO agreed on a strategic partnership with Innovix Distribution to make the ALSO Cloud Marketplace available to 5,500 of Innovix' channel partners starting in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, with plans to expand further in the region. Earlier in June the same year, ALSO signed a strategic partnership with Logicom to provide the marketplace platform to more than 10,000 Logicom partners in 13 countries in Southern Europe and the Middle East, with plans to expand further in the region. In December 2015, ALSO and Westcoast agreed on a strategic cooperation to bring the ALSO Cloud Marketplace platform to Westcoast customers in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

United Kingdom: Beta Digital Media Solutions (DMS), the digital signage division of supply specialist Beta Distribution, has inked distribution agreements with iAdea and Stream TV Networks. Joel Chimoindes, Managing Director at BetaDMS, sees numerous applications for iAdea's products: "Their media players combine with the latest visual technology and help create high impact digital signage in Retail, corporate communication, hospitality, education, in fact any environment that needs live content on screen." iAdea already have over 100,000 commercial organisations worldwide using their products. Stream TV Networks is a Philadelphia-based new media company who have created Ultra D, 3D TV without glasses. Mathu Rajan, Stream TV Networks CEO, commented on the appointment: "in Ultra D we have leading edge technology. What we need in the UK is a partner who has market presence and expertise and BetaDMS fits that bill perfectly. We are very excited by this partnership."

Case manufacturer Incipio has hired Ian Jeffery and Dave Rogers from telephony specialist Brightstar in telco sales management roles as it looks to boost growth in the UK1.

HMD Global has signed a distribution deal with broadliner Exertis to "reignite" the Nokia brand2. This is a new agreement with the mobile division of Exertis and not a renewal of the one the distributor signed with Nokia in 2011.

Sharp Business Systems has unveiled a new partnership with AV specialist Maverick, a division of broadliner Tech Data. Under the new deal, Maverick will become a distribution partner for the full range of Sharp's large format displays. The partnership will be a significant boost to Sharp's widening reseller network, giving the company extended reach through Maverick/Tech Data's existing footprint. Maverick are widely recognised for their specialist knowledge and focus of AV industry experts, providing Sharp with a great business advantage in this market. For resellers, the partnership means far greater choice with a more extensive product range.

Cloud-based VoIP vendor NFON has partnered with broadliner Westcoast, enabling its IT partners to make a seamless shift to voice. According to Mark Davies, Cloud Services Director, Westcoast UK: "we have had huge success with our portfolio of cloud computing products – adoption has been increasing at such a phenomenal rate that we felt the market was ready for us to make the first step into voice, via this partnership with NFON.
