New VP Services and Cloud Solutions appointed at Nuvias Group

United Kingdom: Karl Roe has been appointed VP Services and Cloud Solutions for pan-EMEA high value distributor Nuvias Group. Based in the United Kingdom, he will focus on transforming the delivery of services at Nuvias, utilising and enhancing current distribution routes to enable further channel adoption of cloud and annuity-based models. Roe has over 20 years' proven experience in qualifying, creating, selling and delivering profitable data centre, ASP, SaaS, IaaS, cloud and outsourced ICT business solutions into SMB and enterprise markets. He was instrumental in founding and developing the UK and MEA Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud marketplaces, lately for broadliner Ingram Micro. Roe has held global channel, service transformation and cloud enablement leadership positions, working on both vendor and reseller transformation, as well as working at major software companies such as Odin, Microsoft and Oracle. He has previously led 'Buy & Build' service acquisition strategies for venture capital backed businesses, and has created customer-success driven organisations with double digit business growth. Over the last ten years, he has focussed on enabling cloud services across the Middle East, Africa and Australia. This includes being engaged by sovereign wealth funds and public companies in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to transform their local data centre investments into locally delivered, secure and scalable cloud service businesses.

"I am really excited about bringing my years of experience in developing market-leading cloud and managed services to Nuvias and its channel and vendor partners", said Roe. "Having held senior leadership positions with both IT vendors and resellers, I believe I can bring a global view of the service opportunities that are available. My focus is very much on customer success through developing and delivering innovative support and partner enablement services."

Paul Eccleston, CEO of Nuvias, said: "We are delighted that Karl has chosen to join Nuvias Group. Karl brings a unique blend of skills and experience to our business, with a strong background in traditional services, consulting, integration and engineering, coupled with unparalleled experience of assisting channel partners and vendors build and transition to cloud services. Karl has held key service and cloud roles throughout EMEA and APAC, and has invaluable experience in building services fit for all parts of the market. With a strong focus and track record on delivering customer success, Karl will be instrumental in helping Nuvias deliver new levels of business value to all our partners."

Zycko joins the Nokia Global Partner Program

Network and storage VAD Zycko, now part of the Nuvias Group, has been selected as Nokia's first pan-EMEA distributor and will have access to a comprehensive suite of Nokia solutions. This partnership marks an important step forward in the go-to-market diversification at Nokia, extending channel and value-added distribution, to help expand the company's footprint in the enterprise and mid-market space across EMEA thanks to Zycko offices in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Initially, Zycko will focus on hardware and software integration of IP routing and optical transport networks, fibre-based LAN connectivity infrastructure for buildings/campus', open standards DDI management software, and software defined networking. Nokia is uniquely positioned to help communication service providers, governments, and large enterprises deliver on the promise of 5G, the Cloud and the Internet of Things. Nokia's solutions are carrier/telco-grade, scalable to meet the most demanding XLE environments, whilst offering partners limitless scope to create their own global services across multiple products.

Dave Parker, VP Strategic Partners, at Nokia, commented: "We are delighted with this appointment. It gives us access to a wide network of resellers experienced in communications and networking across the EMEA region. We are impressed with Zycko’s extensive portfolio of value added services. As part of the Nuvias Group, Zycko can offer a true, professional EMEA solution, with sales, marketing and technical support, as well as consistent delivery spanning the region. The type of distributor that Zycko and Nuvias are building internationally complements our own growth plans."

Nuvias acquires Siphon Networks

VAD Nuvias Group has acquired British telecoms VAD SIPHON Networks and its Dutch office for an undisclosed amount. The deal will see Nuvias making a significant investment in SIPHON to accelerate the distributor's expansion, across the EMEA region.

Paul Eccleston, CEO Nuvias Group, said: "SIPHON is a great business with an exceptional reputation in the UC market. Its focus on high level service and solutions capabilities for the channel is perfectly aligned with the Nuvias Group philosophy and strategy. SIPHON is also highly complementary to the cyber security, advanced networking and UC capabilities of Wick Hill and Zycko, the existing businesses in the Group. SIPHON will continue to operate from the same location, with the same staff and the same management team, led by Steve Harris, who will remain as managing director. We will protect what has already been built by SIPHON. We will enhance it through the other capabilities in the Nuvias Group, and we will expand it, taking it across EMEA."

Steve Harris, managing director for SIPHON Networks, said: "This is a great opportunity for SIPHON staff, vendor partners and customers. It enables us to accelerate our growth plans and expand geographically in the UK and EMEA, as part of a much larger organisation, which shares our core beliefs and dedication to high service levels, and has the resources to help us realise our goals." Thanks to this acquisition, Nuvias gets a hand on a full team of Oracle and Polycom certified engineers, among others, which will allow it to build rapidly a UC division, part of its development plans. Under the terms of the deal Siphon will continue to be run by Steve Harris and the current team will remain in place.

Nuvias expands to Middle East

Middle East: network, storage and security VAD Nuvias has added a fourth region, MEA, to its regional EMEA structure. The other three Nuvias Group regions are Northern (Belgium, Denmark, Eire, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom as Wick Hill and Zycko), Central (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany as Wick Hill and Zycko, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia) and Southern Europe (France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Turkey) through the acquisition of infrastructure VAD SCD (which was until now owned by Rigby Group technology arm. The new office will now act as a hub for Nuvias' MEA activities, covering all parts of the Gulf Co-operation Council1 (GCC) area, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Moroccan office of SCD has been closed, because of insufficient business locally.

This is the latest development in the strong growth and development plans of Nuvias, which was established this summer. Nuvias is building an EMEA-wide, high-value, specialist distribution business, with a common proposition and consistent delivery. The strategy is to redefine value distribution to the channel, enabling the channel and vendor community to deliver exceptional business value to their customers and creating new standards of channel success.

Also being announced today is the setting up of the Nuvias Cyber Security Practice at the Dubai office, which includes vendors Unitrends (cloud empowered continuity solutions), Malwarebytes (advanced malware prevention and remediation) and Black Duck (open source security and management). These brands join existing partnership with Netskope (cloud data loss prevention). Other recent vendor signings for Nuvias in the MEA region include JetNEXUS (load balancing - recently announced), Lifesize (videoconferencing) and Tintri (VM-aware storage for virtualisation and the cloud).

Nuvias has already recruited several new staff for the MEA office bringing the current total up to 16. These include recent recruit Muneeb Anjum, the new sales director. Anjum has twelve years' experience in the IT sector, with a proven track record in managing channel partners across the Middle East and extensive experience in successfully introducing new solutions to market.

Paul Eccleston, head of Nuvias Group, commented: "We are delighted to be announcing today the opening of our Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, completing our regional coverage of EMEA. MEA is a very important part of the region and a significant opportunity for us, our vendor partners and our customers. We have been working hard to bring the cyber security, advanced networking and unified comms capability of Wick Hill and Zycko to this region. With the acquisition of the business in Dubai, operating across the region, and the recruitment of Muneeb Anjum, which will be followed by further additions to the team very soon, this is an exciting development for Nuvias and we look forward to bringing more capability and vendors to the region quickly."

Alasdair Kilgour, regional VP MEA for Nuvias, commented: "it's both exciting and a privilege to be part of the Nuvias team and I look forward to leading the growth of the business across MEA and beyond. We will do this firstly by enabling our vendor partners locally to experience the same high standard of value-added service they already receive from the Group across Europe; secondly by expanding our channel partner community through our solution distribution philosophy; and thirdly by geographic expansion. We are exhibiting at Gitex in October at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which will give us a great platform to show the industry what Nuvias in the MEA region can offer."
