Tech Data selected as a strategic global distribution partner by Dell EMC

Tech Data becomes a key global distributor that will carry the entire Dell EMC product line in both the Americas and Europe. Avnet signs global contract to deliver Lenovo's training program

Infrastructure VAD Avnet Technology Solutions has announced that Avnet Academy, its training division, is expanding its education portfolio to include comprehensive training courses for Lenovo's System x and Flex products. This is now available to partners and their customers in all the countries where Avnet operates around the globe. Avnet continues to invest in delivering IT training and certification services, principally around the high-growth technologies that align with Avnet's solutions specialist approach. Lenovo is an existing strategic supplier for Avnet, and this agreement will further support partners and their customers to develop, implement and maintain business solutions that rely on Lenovo technology. IT education and certification training enables IT professionals to become more highly qualified. According to IDC, certified IT professionals take training at a far greater rate than their uncertified colleagues. The study showed that certified professionals are:

  • Almost three times more likely to take classroom training
  • Seven times more likely to take self-paced e-learning courses
  • Ten times more likely to take instructor-led e-learning classes.

Farnell element14 launches Autodesk franchise to distribute leading MCAD software solutions

Development distributor Farnell element14 has announced a new franchise with mechanical design editor Autodesk, to distribute its products in Europe, including two new products from Autodesk, AutoCAD LT (2D drawing and prototyping) and AutoDesk Fusion 360 (mechanical design, 3D modelling, rapid prototyping and 3D prototyping/printing). Peter Wenzel, Global Software Product Line Manager for element14, speaking of the new franchise agreement said: "the new Autodesk franchise strengthens Farnell element14's portfolio of professional engineering software and solidifies our position as the destination for engineering software for electronics and industrial engineers alike. New partners for Alias, BB Tech Group, Datamatic and Ingram Micro

Italy: network, security and telecom VAD Alias has expanded its cloud offer with SwaScan all-in-one, cloud-based IT security platform, which has been fully developed locally1. Its competitor BB Tech Group is also strengthening its cloud offer, with local provider MC-Link2. Value broadliner Datamatic has started the distribution of the LED Display Dazzle Plus from ESDlumen through its new digital signage BU3. Finally, broadliner Ingram Micro has inked a deal with Assmann, whose Digitus, Ednet and Assmann cabling and connectivity products it will distribute through its reseller network4 (source: Top Trade Informatica Italia 1, 2, 3 and 4).
