Avnet signs global contract to deliver Lenovo's training program

Infrastructure VAD Avnet Technology Solutions has announced that Avnet Academy, its training division, is expanding its education portfolio to include comprehensive training courses for Lenovo's System x and Flex products. This is now available to partners and their customers in all the countries where Avnet operates around the globe. Avnet continues to invest in delivering IT training and certification services, principally around the high-growth technologies that align with Avnet's solutions specialist approach. Lenovo is an existing strategic supplier for Avnet, and this agreement will further support partners and their customers to develop, implement and maintain business solutions that rely on Lenovo technology. IT education and certification training enables IT professionals to become more highly qualified. According to IDC, certified IT professionals take training at a far greater rate than their uncertified colleagues. The study showed that certified professionals are:

  • Almost three times more likely to take classroom training
  • Seven times more likely to take self-paced e-learning courses
  • Ten times more likely to take instructor-led e-learning classes.

They will offer rewards for positioning training effectively, with the aim of driving accelerated growth in education services. In the EMEA region, Avnet is a Lenovo distributor in Austria, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Farnell element14 launches Autodesk franchise to distribute leading MCAD software solutions

Development distributor Farnell element14 has announced a new franchise with mechanical design editor Autodesk, to distribute its products in Europe, including two new products from Autodesk, AutoCAD LT (2D drawing and prototyping) and AutoDesk Fusion 360 (mechanical design, 3D modelling, rapid prototyping and 3D prototyping/printing). Savera Digital becomes national distributor for ASRock's AMD range of motherboards

Comway Distribution grows with Convena acquisition

Danish sparepart specialist Comway Distribution has reached an agreement to acquire its Swedish-based competitor Convena International for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is the first step in the realisation of a new growth strategy. Comway Distribution is pleased with the successful acquisition of Convena International, which has a good name in the market. Convena International will complement the Danish IT distributor's current business model and strengthen its business platform with a range of agreements with global manufacturers.

We will continue to participate in the growing consolidation in the industry. We believe that a collection of more brands under a single roof, combined with a deeper understanding of the products, will create additional value for our customers. HP The Centre of Excellence is equipped with HP Indigo 5900, 7900 and the latest 12000 Digital Presses. It also has a wide range Pre Press and software solutions including Esko Graphics, Haiyaa, Color Logic, Human Eyes, Enfocus & HP Mosaic. The Center is also equipped with a wide range of finishing equipment. Customers who visit the center of excellence will have experience of the end to end solutions. Electronic and maintenance product distributor RS Components has opened its innovation hub, a new "Electronic Centre" in Bengaluru. The high service level supplier of electronic components and tools plans to invest close to €13.5m over the next two to five years at the Bangalore centre. The new 185 sqm office in the heart of Bangalore has been set up to support electronic design engineers and manufacturers in the region. The company also plans to set up a warehouse which will enable RS Components to undertake "next day delivery" to its customers. The Bengaluru Centre will have technical marketing and support teams, specialized sales force that will focus on specific industry verticals like IoT, Medical Electronics, Aeronautics, Automotive and R&D sector (source: Channel Times India and IT Var News India).
